The most challenging and rewarding experience of my life …
Brianna Boedecker of UC Santa Barbara, California was a summer intern at Chimoza.
She writes that this was “One of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life, volunteering at Chimoza Community School in Zambia is an experience that I will never forget.”
Those smiles, the constant giggle and overwhelming intrigue with my white skin. The Children of Chimoza Community School are only small percentage of the 12 million orphaned children in Africa. They have seen things that I will probably never see, they have lost more than I could ever imagine, and yet at half my age they are forgiving, bright, beautiful and peaceful humans.
They want to know about the world and why they lost their mommies and daddies, and why it is they don’t have food. But instead of wallowing in their misfortune they excel. They are eager to learn and interested in gardening, math English, science and painting.
I will always have a huge place in my heart for the Students, as I know they will for me. I would like to thank Chellie Kew and The Q fund for this life changing experience.
