Heroes, Soccer, Grades …
The children and their teachers are heroes. At the school last evening all the little orphaned children were playing a game of soccer.
The ball was made of plastic grocery bags tied up tight one wrapped around the other until the ball was almost the size of a soccer ball.
They were so adorable, each one playing and laughing.
To know the reality that these kids have only one another could break your heart, but then you sit back and see with different eyes watching them playing and caring for one another. And you start to understand they have each other. One family.
They are so happy they have a school to come to the kids n ever really want to go far away believing one day it might close down or just disappear.
Yes the work is very hard. But these children are worth it.
Chimoza is ranked #1 community school in the Copperbelt. This is due to the final 7th grade exams. The government tallies the test scores and determines which school received the highest score, and for two years running it has been Chimoza.
You look around you and you wonder how is this possible. It is possible because the insatiable hunger for learning means much here.
